 TWO GREAT RESOURCES

Did you know we have two great resources at the church for study? Have you looked at the church library in a while? We are always adding new books to it. Also, have you checked out the sermon tape library? There are many good topics there also.

Thoughts

Separation Anxiety

Many young children suffer from intense separation anxiety whenever parents attempt to leave them in a nursery or with a babysitter. If you are a parent that has experienced this, the look on your child's face, pressed against the window as you back the car down the driveway to leave, is something you never forget.

But what really breaks your heart is to see them still standing there, with their face pressed against the glass, two or three hours later when you return. Fortunately, most children eventually mature beyond this need to always be with their parents.

The New Testament challenges us with a different idea of maturity. We are told that the mature are those who are anxious for their Savior's return. They are the ones who are waiting and watching--with their face pressed against the glass. They are the ones who are assured that when Jesus does return; they will "always be with the Lord."

Philippians 3:20

20 But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ.

In this season of remembering the birth of our Savior, we must also remember the promise of His return. As Christians, "intense separation anxiety" from Jesus should never be something we outgrow, but something that grows greater each day as we eagerly await His return.

I love you all,

Tim
