A Lesson
From Bruce
It
wasn't very long ago that a friend/secretary of
mine (AKA Robin Stewart) had given me a pretty cool
Pampered Chef vegetable slicer (Nicknamed: The
Maimer"). I gave The Maimer a try last Friday. We
had a few extra squash lying around, as I am sure
most people do this time of the year. I decided
that fried squash sounded really good for dinner.
The Maimer made quick work of the squash and
whatever else got in the way including my right
thumb! Anyway, to make a long gruesome story short
I went to ER, got fixed up with a huge protective
"thumbs up" bandage, and am healing as well as to
be expected. Boy I sure do miss a little bit of my
right thumb! It didn't occur to me until after
"The Maimer" (nicknamed after Friday) separated
good relations between my body and the missing
piece that I never really thanked the missing piece
before it went amissing! With that in mind, I hope
I am not and will never become a "body part /
preacher" who has a negative mind set that goes
around complaining about what "body part" doesn't
work. Please do not get me wrong ~ those "body
parts" who are not functioning with the body may
cause pain (to the body or to themselves) and/or
cause the body or themselves to be spiritually
dysfunctional. We miss, need and want those "body
parts" to be reattached! However, for those body
parts who are attached, functioning, serving,
teaching, assisting, praying, loving etc
THANK YOU! May we be a people of praise! Praise
to God foremost, praise others, and even our selves
(only in our minds)!
I
Corinthians 12:14-27 - Now the body is not made up
of one part but of many. If the foot should say,
"Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the
body," it would not for that reason cease to be
part of the body. And if the ear should say,
"Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the
body," it would not for that reason cease to be
part of the body. If the whole body were an eye,
where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole
body were an ear, where would the sense of smell
be? But in fact God has arranged the parts in the
body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to
be. If they were all one part, where would the body
be? As it is, there are many parts, but one
body.
The eye cannot say to the hand, "I don't need you!"
And the head cannot say to the feet, "I don't need
you!" On the contrary, those parts of the body that
seem to be weaker are indispensable, and the parts
that we think are less honorable we treat with
special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable
are treated with special modesty, while our
presentable parts need no special treatment. But
God has combined the members of the body and has
given greater honor to the parts that lacked it, so
that there should be no division in the body, but
that its parts should have equal concern for each
other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with
it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices
with it.
Now
you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is
a part of it.
See
ya at the gathering,
Bruce
